The fact that everything is in a state of vibration means that everything is creating sound." Masaru Emoto I bet you didn't realize that you are a sound healer. You might think that sound healing is for those who have studied with a guru or who have taken classes and have special certifications. But what if I told you that you that you are a natural born sound healer and that you are using sound to help realign your energy daily without even knowing it? Would you believe me? Most people are unaware that we born with the ability to heal ourselves. We know that when we get a cut our body creates a scab and heals it up. We know that when we catch a cold our immune system fights it off. But what we don't realize is that, when our energy falls out of balance, we naturally do things to help bring ourselves back into harmony. Here are ten ways that we can naturally and easily use sound in our day to day lives to bring our energy into a more peaceful state. 1. Music Music is a gift from the Divine. We can use music to help calm or soothe us and help bring our energy into a harmonized state of being. We can also use music to inspire us, motivate us and get us up and moving! We can use music to help us “wake up” and “snap out of it” when we are feeling tired and we need a pick-me-up. We can also use music to help us fall asleep. It all depends on the tones and style of music that we choose to listen to. To use music to help shift your mood, choose music that resonates with how you want to feel. 2. Humming When you feel pain, tension or resistance in your body, try “humming” to that area, softly. You can use sound from your own body, to break up energy blocks or release pent up energy that is creating imbalance in your body. Begin by slowing your breathing and feeling love inside of your heart. Next, draw in a big deep breath while “humming” and sending the love and sound toward the part of your body that needs to relax. Do this until you feel the energy shift. 3. Listening There are many ways that we can use Listening to help us heal. When you’re feeling out of balance, you can put on music to help bring your energy back into alignment. There are many beautiful meditations and ambient music available on Youtube. Sometimes just listening to the sounds of your favorite spiritual teacher lead you through a guided meditation is all that you need to help bring your energy back into a harmonious state. 4. Words/Speaking Throughout your day, pay attention to the words you are speaking. Words have power, as the throat creates vibration as you speak. This invisible vibration is sending energy into motion and shaping energy into matter creating your physical reality. So, pay attention to the words that you speak and ask yourself if they are worthy of what you’re trying to create. If not, change your vocabulary. Choose to speak words that support what you are creating in this world. 5. Silence There is power in silence. Silence has so many answers to our questions that we struggle with each day. Your silence has a story to tell you. Each day take at least 5 minutes to close your eyes and be quiet. Turn your attention to the third eye and begin to breathe while feeling gratitude in your heart. As you feel your consciousness begin to shift… ask a question to your higher self and be silent until the answer arrives. As you feel your mind wander, gently bring your attention back to your silence and feel for the wisdom that exists inside of you. 6. Singing The ability to sing is the most wonderful gift from the universe! In my house, we wake up and start the day singing to each other. We make up songs that we sing to our dog and get the day off to a fun start by being silly. Singing is helpful to express emotion no matter what you may be feeling at the time. If you’re feeling happy, you can sing happy songs. If you are feeling sad, you can sing a sad song. Song helps us to express the feelings and the energy of emotions that we are creating from the inside out. 7. Instruments If you watch my live show on Instagram called The Daily Vibe, then you are already familiar with how sound can assist in healing. In Shamanic traditions, they use the drum to release negative energy and emotion that is stuck in the energy field. The vibration of the soundwave from beating the drum introduces a dissonant wave that breaks up any stuck energy in the energy field that needs to be released. I also use the Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls to re-tune the frequency of our chakras to bring our energy back into harmony and balance. 8. Nature Nature is the Universe’s own personal sound healer. If you go out into nature and close your eyes you will begin to notice all of the soothing sounds that natures offers us. The leaves rustle in the wind… the creek babbles as the water flows. The birds sing and the waves crash. The frequencies of nature help to bring your energy back into balance and cleanse your energy. 9. Noises Believe it or not, you already know how to heal yourself with sound. Think back to a time when you have been frustrated in the past. Did you let out a loud “urrrgh!” Or, think back to when you took a bite of some tasty food, did you immediately say “mmmm”? We express the emotions that we are feeling inside naturally through sound. So the next time you’re irritated, take a minute to go someplace where you can let out a big sigh… or if you’re feeling happiness, let out a nice laugh! Laughter is the best medicine because we are encouraging the flow of positive emotion through sound. 10. Breathing Observing or listening to the breath has many positive qualities. This is why in meditation we focus on the breath. When you bring awareness to the breath, which is life, and infuse the breath with positive feeling or intentions, you lift and raise your vibration and mood. This helps bring your energy into a state of balance and helps you to feel deep feelings of happiness and wellbeing. You can also use the sound of your breath for relaxation and releasing negative emotion such as stress and feelings of unease. These are just a few of my favorite ways to use sound for creating harmony and balance in your daily life, and the best part about it is that everything listed here is free! Your energy is in your hands and the Universe provides us with everything that we need to heal and manifest within our own bodies and minds.
